About the Author

I am a Lecturer in Linguistics and English Language at the University of Edinburgh. The content of this blog is purely personal and in no way reflects the opinions of the University and its members. I am a sociophonetician, and so the blog is often about sociophonetics, but sometimes the posts are more about being an American living abroad, or about my daughter and life as a mother.

If you’re curious why the blog is called ‘vocalised’, check out my first post: https://vocalised.wordpress.com/2009/10/11/on-becoming-intelligible/

Thanks for visiting!
